The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has issued guideline 2078 on the construction and management of official websites of government offices with the provision that government websites should be kept confidential as per the prevailing law. Website Creation and Management Directive 2068 has been repealed.
The directive also stipulates that offices, office services, employee details, contact numbers and emails, citizen's charters, forms and other details should be included in the website of all government offices.
The guideline states, "Once a website is built, security should be tested and its status should be checked every year by the Department of Information Technology, making the website accessible, simple and reliable, and the content available on the website should be in HTML, PDF and Word format."
The directive stipulates that government websites should be hosted in the government's integrated data center and that the website should be accessible even on low-speed internet and easily accessible and viewable on mobile phones. According to the directive, in case of a change of office bearers and addresses, it has to be updated within 24 hours.
