Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, has said there would be a support to the government's activities if the media offered constructive feedback.
At a programme organised here on Monday on the occasion of 17th establishment day of Radio Madhyapaschim 91.4 MHz run by Dang Information and Cooperatives Ltd, Minister Sharma shared that the government has expected cooperation and support for the country's overall development and good-governance.
Stating that there is a sizable number of people listening to the radio and having trust in its news, she assured that the state would pay attention to the promotion of radio.
The Communications Minister mentioned, "Radio in general should strengthen its role like in the past for the country's development and good-governance."
"No one should be allowed to create negative impacts on the system by raising the weaknesses of a leader, employee, media person and individual," Sharma added.
She also urged the Radio Madhyapaschim to move ahead in an impartial and independent manner.
Saying that the contract agreement with the Indian company for the construction of four-lane road in the district has been terminated, the Minister assured to begin a new process for the development of Ghorahi-Tulasipur road project.
Founder Chairperson of the Radio Madhyapaschim, Narayan Prasad Sharma, pointed out the need of extensive review about the problems facing the media industry.
Likewise, President of Federation of Nepali Journalists, Bipul Pokhrel, said the role played by radio has made positive impacts on general people.
Press Council Member Sharad Adhikari laid emphasis on collaboration among all bodies in difficult situations.
