Locals in Jumla are attracted to the health insurance program. According to Kalam Rawat, district coordinator of the health insurance office, 55,352 people have been insured in the district under the government's health insurance program.
Citizens were not interested in health insurance, but now the number of people coming to the office to understand and get information from the phone has increased after understanding the public awareness message and relief after getting insurance, said the office.
The government has formed a health insurance board and is running insurance programs across the country. Four thousand 35 people have been insured under the free insurance program for senior citizens.
According to him, 180 women volunteers, 45 with complete disability, two with tuberculosis and one with HIV have been insured.
According to the office, people are also complaining about not getting medical treatment at the insured health facility. Stakeholders said that the citizens are still less attracted towards it.
Even though this program has been operating in Jumla for almost four or five years, not all the citizens have been able to get health insurance.
