NEPALGUNJ: Human Rights Information and Resource Centre has been established in Banke.
Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Chet Narayan Acharya, today inaugurated the Human Rights Information and Resource Centre building, constructed at Janaki rural municipality-3 in Banke district. The Centre is set up by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), today on the occasion of the 76th International Human Rights Day.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Acharya shared that the province government was committed to protect and promote human rights.
"The province government is committed to create environment where every person in the society has equal opportunities and lives with dignity. Common solidarity is necessary to build just and equitable society and the province government will coordinate for the same," the Chief Minister said, adding that human rights are connected with progress of the society.
"We have imagined of a just and equitable society. It is necessary to ensure human rights for the same," he mentioned.
Stating that Lumbini province faced more conflict as compared to other provinces and human rights could not be guaranteed now due to problems surfaced as a consequence of it, the Chief Minister asserted that the province government would move ahead for the justice to conflict-affected ones.
Similarly, various individuals—Founding President of INSEC, Sushil Pyakurel, former President Subodh Pyakurel, INSEC Lumbini Province Coordinator Bhola Mahat, Chief of Human Rights Commission, Nepalgunj, Dwarika Adhikari, among others talked about the conflict management issue. The programme was chaired by INSEC Chairperson Dr Kundan Aryal.
The Centre was constructed on 27 dhur of land plot belonging to INSEC at a cost of Rs 4.729 million. A target has been set to develop it as a platform to provide legal and psycho-social counseling to conflict victims and sharing information.
