Police have arrested an Indian national for smuggling gold. Chief of the Airport Security Office, Bhim Prasad Dhakal, said that the gold was found in the anus after an investigation based on special information.
He said that Shubham Mehra, 38, an Indian national, was involved in smuggling the gold. He had smuggled 1,268 grams of gold. The value of the gold is stated to be Rs. 1,849,000. His arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport was taken under control from the tunnel gate after his activities, which came to Kathmandu from Dubai on a Nepal Airlines flight, looked suspicious.
Police said that they have recovered two semi-solid gold bags wrapped in green tape wrapped in plastic. He was handed over to the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office for necessary investigation and action, police said.
