In view of the election security, the government has banned movement in the border area for 72 hours from Tuesday night.
Border traffic is being closed until polling day. The Indian nationals who tried to come to Nepal due to lack of information were sent back by the security personnel deployed in the border area on Wednesday.
The 72 hours before the polling day is called the silence period. During the silence period, international border checkpoints have been closed and campaigning has been banned.
In the border areas of Madhesh, the Armed Police Force (APF) is tightening the border in coordination with its Indian counterpart. Deployed in the border area, they have stopped the general public from travelling freely.
All the eight districts of Madhesh are bordered by India.
Many Indian nationals tried to enter Nepal on Wednesday morning through the Birgunj-Raxaul border crossing, one of the main checkpoints in the country. A team of the Armed Police Force and the Nepal Police sent them back.
A team of Nepali security personnel has been assisted by the Indian SSB. They have not allowed people to enter Nepal from the Miteri Bridge.
