The Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the Federal Parliament has unanimously approved the name of Judge Til Prasad Shrestha proposed for the Supreme Court. Chairman Laxman Lal Karna informed that the committee unanimously approved the name after getting information about his experience, thinking, future plans and concept in today's meeting. The committee members also lauded the steps taken by him at various times and places to increase the respect of the service recipients towards the court by ending the delay in the justice sector of Nepal.
Judge Shrestha, while at the Pokhara, Rajbiraj and Biratnagar High Courts, had dropped the number of cases to zero which were piled up for more than two years and has been on the list of who has overseen the most number of cases.
The Judicial Council nominated his name for the Supreme Court and sent it to the committee for a parliamentary hearing on March 11.
He initiated important activities such as the adoption of an electronic system during court proceedings, information to clients about pace and decision preparation, interaction and training with local-level officials on case resolution, a free legal field in court, a judicial network, 'meet the judge' and decision writing to satisfy losers.
