Jumla's women becoming self-reliant through hands-on training

 Women of Tatopani village municipality-6 of Jumla have started becoming self-reliant through hand-held training. Tilandevi Kami of the same ward is currently busy learning hosiery skills. Spending time in the morning and evening weaving sweaters, other fabrics from Hynek, she is now able to weave clothes for women, men and children.

After six months of skill-based training in the village, it is easier to work now, said Tilan Devi.

 Parvati Kami of Hiyakhola, who dropped out of school while studying in class seven, has started weaving various clothes after giving hosiery skills to an uneducated woman. Ward Chairman Vishal Khadka informed that the hand hosiery industry has started helping the women here in earning income.

Until now, the residents have not been able to get government jobs. The most remote village of this ward is Hiyakhola. He said, "Now I am trying to set up a handicraft industry in the village to create employment." Ward Chairman Khadka said that the ward office has adopted various options to provide employment to the unemployed.

After the toll education program of the municipality

Corona has affected the teaching and learning, the Chandan Nath Municipality has started conducting teaching through the toll education program through 45 teachers in all the ten wards.

 The program is organized by the Education, Youth and Sports Branch of Chandan Nath Municipality with the support of UNICEF Nepal. Khadananda Chaulagain, head of the Education, Youth and Sports Branch of the municipality, said that the children have been provided with books and learning activities at home with the help of their parents.

Due to Covid-19, the educational activities have been halted and teaching has been started by appointing subject teachers in toll roads. The use of masks and sanitizers has been made mandatory for teachers and students who reach the toll plaza. He said that the subject teachers were sent to the toll booths to help the children who were staying at home when the school was closed due to Corona.

The subject teachers are gathering all the students in a suitable place and teaching their subjects. It is said that the toll education conducted in each tol within the municipality is also monitored.

Chandan Nath Municipality is conducting a student recruitment campaign through street drama. Chief of the Education, Youth and Sports Branch of the municipality, Khadananda Chaulagain informed that a student recruitment campaign has been launched in the ward through street drama till March 4.

According to the education department of the municipality, a street drama was staged demanding enrollment of children in community schools. It is said that the street drama especially includes the new school enrollment campaign, the importance of education, and the reasons for the weakening of community schools.
