Karnali Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has directed to start preparations against the risk of new variant of coronavirus, Omicron. While inspecting Mehalkuna Hospital in East Surkhet today, he said that the local level and health institutions should complete the preparation work before the epidemic spreads.
Chief Minister Shahi informed that the process has been started for the construction of a 50-bed communicable disease hospital in Chinchu of Bheriganga Municipality, the main entrance of Karnali. "Let the governments of all the three levels work together to formulate an action plan before the variant spreads," he said, "The state government will not allow budget and manpower shortage. Let's first prepare an action plan to adopt local management and vigilance.”
Chief Minister Shahi said that a large oxygen plant has been set up at Mehalkuna Hospital in Surkhet, Salyan, Jajarkot, Rukum West, and Dolpa to prevent oxygen shortage. He said that there would be no shortage of oxygen at two places in Karnali, Surkhet, Dailekh, Rukum West, Kalikot, and Jumla.
Chief of Gurbhakot Municipality, Hasta Pun, said that the Mehalkuna Hospital should be equipped with the manpower, infrastructure, and medical equipment. He also demanded to complete the operation and management committee of the hospital.
