The land has been provided to those displaced by landslides in Besinda and Chepchewa of Silichong Gaonpalika-1 of Sankhuwasabha. The municipality has purchased land and provided land to 25 families of Besinda to rehabilitate in Chitre village of Ward No. 1, said village chairman Ram Bahadur Kulung.
Ninety-two families of Besinda and Chepchewa were displaced when a landslide hit Besinda on July 12, 2008. The registration has been passed after purchasing land for 25 families displaced by the landslide and the process of handing over the land to 37 out of 92 displaced families has been started, said Chairman Kulung.
According to the District Disaster Management Committee, the land has been purchased and handed over on March 12.
Similarly, transplants for 12 houses in Bakhaltum village are being purchased and handed over at the rate of Rs. He said that preparations were being made to bring some other families displaced by the landslide to Khandbari Municipality as well. Preparations are underway to bring 55 families of landslide victims in Silichong to Khandbari Municipality and a land search committee is being formed for that.
