District Election Office, Tanahu has started preparations for the local level election to be held on May 13. The office is currently updating the voter list in preparation for the election.
District Election Officer Hari Prasad Dhakal informed that the party has started internal preparations by postponing the voter list collection as soon as the election was declared. The office has sent the names of 248,493 candidates to the Election Commission. Of them, one lakh 28 thousand 542 are women and one lakh 19 thousand 951 are men. "We have sent the voter list to the Election Commission for updating. We will publish the final list after receiving the update from the commission," he said. According to him, more than 17,000 new voters have been added in the district in the last one year. For the convenience of the public, arrangements were made for voter registration from the Administration Office and the Election Office. The general public was facilitated by the arrangement of registering the voter list from the administration office immediately after the distribution of citizenship.
The office is preparing to send voter lists to all 10 local levels by March 3. After this, the work of protesting the claim will be taken forward. The work of correcting the details, protesting the claim and removing the list will be carried out from March 3 to 7. The office is preparing to publish the final list by March 27. In the local level election 2074 BS, there were one lakh 94 thousand 471 voters in the district and in the representative / state assembly election there were two lakh 11 thousand 446 voters.
The District Election Office has decided to issue voter ID cards again to the people who have lost and destroyed their voter ID cards. The office is making arrangements to ensure that no voter is deprived of the right to vote.
Election Officer Dhakal said that the person who had earlier given the voter ID card from the office but now the identity card has been lost or destroyed can give another voter ID card. He informed that such voters should submit the recommendation of the concerned ward to the office by March 4.
Parties in election-focused programs
The major political parties of the district have started election-focused programs. The Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist Center), CPN-Unified Socialists and others have stepped up their activities targeting the upcoming local elections.
Congress has started election-targeted training program. Tanahu Area No. 1 has completed the training program a few days ago. District Secretary Laxmi Bhakta Khanal informed that meetings, interactions and other programs have been conducted in 10 municipalities, regions and state assembly constituencies of the district.
UML has formed an election mobilization committee keeping in view the local level election. UML District Chairman Shri Prasad Shrestha informed that responsibility has been assigned to all the municipalities for mobilizing cadres for the election-focused program.
CPN-Unified Socialists are also intensifying the ward gathering by focusing on elections. According to District Secretary Shri Ram Karki, the campaign of expanding the organization has been intensified by forming ward committees in all the municipalities of the district.
