The Malaysian Government has decided to open up its borders for workers seeking or returning to work in the nation. As per a statement released by the Malaysian Minister of Human Resources on the 15th of January, the Malaysian Government will now move ahead with the process of approving foreign workers from the 18th of January in certain sectors and more on the 15th of February.

This announcement comes as a great avenue for Nepali Workers seeking foreign employment says Prakash Panthi, a labor attaché at the Nepalese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Nepalese workers have been seeking jobs in the country for a long time. As a nation very close to Nepal it has established itself as the hotspots for prospective Nepali workers looking for suitable conditions of work with good pay.

The rise in the number of workers in Malaysia recently has also seen an increase in the number of undocumented workers in the region. The Malaysian government has taken initiatives to rehabilitate these illegal workers who’ve stayed past their visa expiration dates, giving them until the 30th of June this year to return back to Nepal.

With the wave of new digital passports coming into the nation, the workers in Malaysia too are being readied to convert into Machine Readable Passports(MRP) in the near future. However the government has urged the workers no to rush to make these passports unless deemed urgent.

The documented workers are allowed to come back to Nepal on a vacation by writing a formal letter to their employer at any time. These workers vaccinated or not will be required to quarantine once they enter either nation.
