Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the US grant assistance program (Millennium Challenge Corporation) is in the interest of the MCC nation.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the new administrative building of Kispang village in Nuwakot today, Prime Minister Deuba said that the MCC agreement has been moved forward now as the government led by the CPN (UML) has submitted it to the parliament for approval.

"The MCC was submitted by the then UML Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Defense Minister Bhim Rawal to be passed by Parliament on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers," Deuba said.

Prime Minister Deuba urged those who thought that MCC was needed in the government to be passed by the parliament not to show double standards by protesting now that they are out of power.

He said that since MCC is a free grant for the development of Nepal, it is in the interest of the nation to take any loan and not even to pay interest on it (MCC).

Stating that some doubts have been shown in the implementation, Prime Minister Deuba called for international bidding and urged not to follow the rumor mongers as it will be conducted in accordance with the law of Nepal.

"There is nothing wrong with the illusion that US troops are entering Pashupatinath from the bombs coming from the MCC transmission line," said Prime Minister Deuba.

Prime Minister Deuba, who is also the president of the Nepali Congress, said that the government was committed to hold the local elections in a fair manner in a fearless environment.

Speakers at the program included Nepali Congress Working Committee Member Ajurnarsingh KC, Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, Central Member Bahadur Singh Lama (Taman), CPN (UML) Central Member Binda Dhungana, CPN (Maoist Center) State Assembly Member Hiranath Khatiwadal and others. He expressed the belief that the people would be comfortable with more quality.

Chairman Chhatra Bahadur Lama informed that the new building was constructed at a cost of Rs. 45.6 million raised from various sources.
