Melamchi-Helambu road blocked due to flood

Due to last night's flood, the road has been blocked at Melamchi 11 under the Melamchi-Helambu road. According to Melamchi area police office, the road has been cut by the river near Simkhet and there has been a problem in the operation of the means of transport. Locals of Helambu Rural Municipality and Ward No. 6 and 7 of Melamchi have been affected due to road blockage. Aitman Tamang, the head of Melamchi Municipality, informed that the road will be operated by observing the flow of water.

The Melamchi Tipeni road section of Sindhupalchok has been blocked by landslides at various places. Passengers of Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality have suffered due to the blocked road, as direct transport from the village to Kathmandu is not running. The local level has closed the road for repairs due to the risk of traffic in the Ramche section of the road under the Melamchi municipality. Jeet Bahadur Karki, Engineer of Melamchi Municipality, said that even though the road is being repaired, it will take two weeks for regular traffic operation.

Because of the flood, there is no bridge in Melamchi Bazar and the residents of Panchpokhari who are using alternative roads are also facing problems in the transportation of essential materials including food. The Melamchi Helambu road section was also blocked due to the flood that occurred after heavy rains last night. Melamchi 11 area police office Melamchi has informed that traffic could not be operated due to the river cutting the road in Simkhet. Similarly, Melamchi 10 Rampurbensi has been blocked due to landslides.
