Landslide blocked road in Teenghare, Banepa

Due to incessant rain, the road has been blocked for three days after a landslide occurred in Teenghare located in Banepa Municipality-3 of Kavrepalanchok. Traffic has been blocked on the Banepa-Tinghare-Anekot road section after a landslide fell from above.

Deepak Gautam, Head of District Coordinating Committee Kavrepalanchok, Deputy Head of Banepa Municipality Vimala Sapkota Dahal and Chief District Officer Humkala Pandey observed the place where the landslide occurred today. Banepa municipality has informed that two houses are also at risk due to landslides.

Deputy Head of Banepa Municipality, Vimala Sapkota Dahal, said that even a motorcycle was buried in the landslide and now it is difficult for even people to move around. "Due to the landslide, the falling of stones and mud from above has not stopped yet," he said, "due to the dangerous situation, the road cannot be opened immediately."

He said that Tripal has been managed by the Municipal Disaster Management Fund to provide immediate protection to the houses that are at risk due to landslides. As the road was blocked by the landslide, the vehicles plying between Banepa-Tinghare-Anekot are also stopped.

The Chief District Officer of Kavrepalanchok, Humkala Pandey, said that since the monsoon is active, the landslides cannot be removed for the time being, and the traffic will be removed only after the rain stops. Stating that disaster incidents have occurred sporadically in the district, he said that the district administration office is working by preparing a monsoon response plan. He said that two children are still missing due to the disaster and one person has died due to the flood.
