Minister of Education, Science and Technology Devendra Paudel has said that a common decision is necessary for the reform of public schools. While inaugurating the new building of Gyanodaya Secondary School, Minister Paudel asked for support as the government has started a 10-year campaign to improve public schools.
"We have announced the ten-year public school reform plan," Minister Paudel said, "The physical structure of 12,000 schools has been completed. Now we will proceed to complete the physical infrastructure work in three years." He informed that in order to address the problem in service facilities for teachers, the ministry has started a process to provide service facilities similar to civil servants. Minister Paudel said that the 'studying and earning' program is running in 140 schools and this year, 100 more schools will be selected and skills will be linked with employment.
Sunita Dangol, Deputy Head of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, said that the Metropolitan City is working to improve public schools. Chairman of the National Examination Board, Dr. Mahashram Sharma, said that this is an example of changes in the quality of schools with the right leadership.
