Minister urges not to pursue misconceptions about MCC

Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki have described the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) project as a development project.

Addressing a 'Let's go door-to-door, Congress win' campaign program organized by Nepali Congress Constituency No. 4 Sunsari in Koshi today, he urged all leaders and cadres not to follow the MCC project as there was no truth in the misconception about the MCC project.

Minister Karki said that the project was only a development project and the grant money would be used for infrastructure development, road and power transmission line expansion.

He said that the MCC project aims to build 77 kilometres of international standard roads. He mentioned that he would play an important role in moving the country towards prosperity by alleviating poverty.

He further added that there was no truth in the illusion that the US military would come because of the MCC, adding that it had opened the door to prosperity for the country. Minister Karki also claimed that the MCC project was in the interest of the country, Nepali people and the nation.

Among the participants were Federal MP Sitaram Mehta, Nepali Congress Sunsari President Kedar Bhandari, Inaruwa Municipality Chief Rajan Mehta, Deputy Chief Jamuna Gautam Pokhrel, Koshi Village Chairman Ayub Ansari, Vice Chairman Anita Devi Yadav, Harinagar Village Chairman Gaffar Ansari and Dewanganj Village Chairman Lali Prasad Mehta. Hundreds of leaders and cadres had joined the Nepali Congress after abandoning various parties in the program.
