Minister for Water Supply Mahindra Raya Yadav has directed authorities for easy smooth supply of drinking water to consumers in Lalitpur district. He directed the Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited to immediately distribute Melamchi water to the local people of Lalitpur Metropolitan City. The minister was addressing an interaction organised here on Saturday by the drinking water struggle committee of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-14, 15, 23 and 26.
Easy access to safe drinking water is people’s fundamental right, and it is the responsibility of the government to provide pure water to people, he stated.
The event was also attended by lawmaker Dr Tosima Karki, Province Assembly member Raghu Nath Maharjan, employees of the Ministry, the metropolis mayor Chiribabu Maharjan, the KUKL chief executive officer Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, chief of the Melamchi Water Supply Project Implementation Directorate Rajendra Sapkota and affected local people.
