The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Sunday reported 1,042 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 644,622. Additionally, 561 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 27 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 246 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Saturday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 9,225. Presently, there are 26,179 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 461 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 342 cases, Lalitpur logged 88 cases and Bhaktapur logged 31 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As per the health ministry data, a total of 8,132 tests were done in the past 24 hours. Of them, 4,876 were RT-PCR tests while 3,256 were Antigen tests.
As many as 2,552 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Sunday, a total of 609,218 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 94.5 per cent.
As of Sunday, a total of 3,368,542 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 27,716 persons staying in isolation while 295 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 183.46 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 4,126,968 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in December-2019, a Reuters tally showed as of 12:53 pm, on Sunday, July 4, 2021.
