National Assembly unanimously passed the 'Acid and Other Harmful Chemicals (Regulation) Bill'. In the meeting, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand had presented a proposal to pass the bill.
Replying to a question raised during the clause-by-clause discussion with a message from the House of Representatives, he said that although acid and deadly chemicals were essential in the industrial and health sectors, the law was brought to regulate acid and hazardous chemicals in the market for others.
Stating that the bill was brought to regulate and manage the production, import, export, storage, sale, distribution and use of acid and hazardous chemicals, Minister said that the misuse of acid would be controlled and necessary action would be taken against those who misuse such substances.
Five bills have been passed by the House of Representatives in the National Assembly. In Tuesday's meeting, Secretary Rajendra Phunyal discussed 'Criminal Offenses and Criminal Procedure Amendment Bill, 2079', 'Social Security (First Amendment) Bill, 2079', 'Nepal Police and State Police (Operation, Supervision and Coordination) (First Amendment). Bill, 2079, 'Drinking Water and Sanitation Bill, 2076' and 'Bill to Amend Some Acts against Sexual Violence, 2079' have been tabled.
The bill will be discussed in the National Assembly now.
