A joint meeting of security officials of Nepal and India has decided to close down border points 72 hours before the upcoming local elections.
The joint meeting of the security officials of both the countries held at Madhubani district-based Jayanagar in India today took the decision to this effect.
Chief District Officer of Dhanusha Surendra Poudel shared that a decision was made to close down border checkpoint 72 hours before the local election taking into consideration the possible security threats due to open borders.
CDO Poudel said that during the meeting matters relating to cross-border relations, no-man's land encroachment, its management, internal security of both the countries, control of smuggling, drugs and alcohol trafficking were also discussed.
Poudel led the Nepali side while Madhuwani district DM Ameet Kumar was leading the Indian side in the meeting.
