As the number of infections and deaths related to COVID-19 started surging in Nepal, the District Administration Offices of various districts across the country started imposing prohibitory orders to curb the spread of the second wave. Till May 13, such orders had been enacted in 73 districts out of the 77 districts in Nepal.
However, as of today, only three districts remain where there has been no prohibitory order implemented. The administration of Rukum (East), where there was no restriction earlier, has also imposed a prohibitory order with effect from today. Now, only Tehrathum, Khotang, and Manang districts do not have any restrictions in place.
Infections and deaths related to the coronavirus have shown no sign of subsiding with the Ministry of Health and Population on Saturday reporting 8,046 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 447,704 in Nepal.
Similarly, the Health Ministry also recorded 187 deaths from COVID-19 including the data from COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) and Nepali Army's dead body management statistics on Saturday.
