Prohibitory orders have not been imposed in only four districts out of the 77 districts in Nepal. The restrictions have been imposed in nearly all the districts of the country so as to prevent the spread of the second wave of the coronavirus.
The four districts without prohibitory orders are Tehrathum, Khotang, Manang and Rukum (East).
The number of infections and deaths related to COVID-19 in Nepal shows no sign of ebbing with cases rising every day. Hospitals too have been overwhelmed as they lack a sufficient number of beds to treat patients infected with the contagion. To further compound the problem the country is also facing shortage of medical oxygen cylinders and ventilators that are necessary for treatment of COVID patients.
The government had appealed to the Chinese government a few days back for oxygen cylinders and the northern neighbour has pledged to provide 20,000 empty cylinders of which 400 cylinders have already been delivered. The Non-Resident Nepali Association in Oman is also providing 600 cylinders which will be brought home by Nepal Airline Corporation on Sunday.
Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday reported 9,238 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 422,349. Additionally, 67 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the Health Ministry has also recorded 168 deaths from COVID-19 including the data from COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre and Nepali Army's dead body management statistics on Wednesday.
