PM keeps national interest at top priority during India visit

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that he is visiting India by keeping the national interests at the centre.

Informing the Federal Parliament on Monday about his India visit, PM Dahal shared that bilateral meetings, important agreements and memorandum of understandings (MoUs) will be signed considering our national interests.

Second meeting of the House, the PM said that the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Minister for Finance, Minister for Energy, Minister for Irrigation and Water Resources, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies will accompany him.

The PM said that he held discussions with experts, former PMs and former foreign affairs ministers by keeping the national interests at core and added that he made efforts to make national consensus on the agendas of the visit.

Informing the House about important discussions on diverse aspects of Nepal-India relations, the PM said that agreements would be held on bilateral trade and transit, energy trade, cross-border transmission line, air route, integrated customs check post and other issues.

Likewise, the PM said that investment in the energy sector will be brought in from India by ensuring Nepal's national interests.

Basis for the investment in hydropower would be assured and concrete talks would be held for power export to Bangladesh and DPR of Pancheshwor Multipurpose Project would be given final shape, according to the PM.

The PM was of the view that he is making efforts to create an environment conducive to addressing the border disputes and several other concerns.

Furthermore, the PM informed the Federal Parliament that he would address the Nepal-India Business Summit to be jointly organized by Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Confederation of Indian Industry.

The PM is leaving here for India on May 31. During his visit, PM is scheduled to meet with the President, the Vice-President, his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and other leaders.
