Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has laid the foundation stone for Nepal’s first liquid oxygen manufacturing plant. The prime minister virtually laid the foundation stone for the plant in a programme organised in Baluwatar today.
PM Oli mentioned that the establishment of a liquid oxygen plant was of great significance taking into consideration the acute shortage of medical oxygen that the country faced during the second wave of the coronavirus.
The prime minister also informed that to make sure that there is no shortage of oxygen in hospitals in the future hospitals with the capacity of 100 beds have been directed to set up their own oxygen manufacturing plants on their premises. He added that during such a crisis it will not be enough with even hospitals having their own oxygen plants so the new liquid oxygen manufacturing plant is being started.
PM Oli also mentioned that the government will provide concessions of customs duty for the establishment of oxygen manufacturing plants in the country. He said that after the coronavirus pandemic is over then the surplus oxygen that will be produced can be exported to other countries or used in domestic industries.
