President Bidyadevi Bhandari has arrived in Pokhara. She arrived by Nepal Army helicopter in Pokhara to inaugurate the first national conference of the Judicial Committee.
President Bhandari was welcomed in a very special place at Pokhara Airport by Gandaki Chief Prithviman Gurung, Chief Minister Krishnachandra Nepali Pokhrel, Ministers of the state government, former Minister Padma Aryal, State Assembly member and Deputy Chief of Pokhara Municipal Corporation Manju Devi Gurung.
Judicial committees of all 753 municipalities of the country have been invited to the conference to be organized by Pokhara Metropolitan Judicial Committee at Pokhara Assembly Hall, said Deputy Chief and Chief of Judicial Committee Gurung. There is a constitutional provision to have a judicial committee headed by the deputy chief of metropolis, sub-metropolis, city and village. Article 217 provides for a Judicial Committee under the Local Executive of Part 17 of the Constitution.
According to the law, a three-member committee will be formed under the coordination of the deputy chief of the municipality or village to resolve disputes within its jurisdiction. Arrangements have been made for the remaining two members to be elected from among the town or village councils. The Judicial Committee has been formed with the objective of making access to justice easy and simple for the general public.
