Province 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut is set to take a vote of confidence today.
The Province Assembly session has been summoned for today for the vote of trust. Last Wednesday, a meeting of Chief Minister and Council of Ministers had decided to go for a vote of trust.
CM Raut is set to take a vote of confidence as per the constitutional provision after the split of the ruling Janata Samajwadi Party.
CM Raut had written a letter to the Province Assembly Secretariat a week ago in regard to the vote of confidence motion.
The seventh session of the provincial assembly has been called from today. The CM has to take the vote of confidence within 30 days on the condition the party s/he represents is split or a ruling coalition is divided and withdraws its own support.
The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) was formally broken on August 25 and the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party was formed under the leadership of Mahanta Thakur.
Now the province-2 has the ruling collation of JSP, Nepali Congress, and CPN (Maoist Centre). The CPN (Unified Socialist) is also backing CM Raut. With this, he has a two-thirds majority out of a total of 104 province assembly members.
