Karnlai Province Assembly speaker Raj Bahadur Shahi has underlined the need of depoliticizing universities.
In his address to the 12th anniversary of the Mid-West University here today, the province speaker said universities should not be used as a platform for undertaking political affairs.
“Lately universities have started losing charm and it seems that they are being developed as a hub to fuel the unemployment problem in the nation. Universities are the places for undertaking research and generating knowledge, not for exercising politics,” he said, adding that it should not be used as a ‘political lab’.
He took time to echo the need of making universities technology-friendly and focusing on producing skilled workforce.
