The Foreign Employment Office, Kathmandu, has decided to re-approve labor only through the online system from Sunday. Since December 2077, the work of re-approval of labor is being done through both physical presence and online, from now on, the work of re-approval of work will be done only online.
According to Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha, the provision of re-issuance of labor permits only through an online system has put an end to the compulsion of Nepali workers who have come to different countries for foreign employment to go to the Foreign Employment Office and wait in line for hours.
Secretary at the Ministry, Eknarayan Aryal, said that the government would make such an arrangement to make the work permit 'paperless' and provide services easily by making maximum use of information technology as soon as it takes over the responsibility. Ramesh Aryal, head of the Foreign Employment Office, said that the work of re-employment is being done only through the online system to make the work permit 'faceless, paperless and castless' and provide fast quick, and transparent complaint-free service.
He said that the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security has been directed to provide services to the workers going for foreign employment without any hassle by using modern technology in a simple and easy way.
How to get re-employment approval?
In order to get the online service of re-employment approval, the service recipient will have to fill the form along with all the required documents through the foreign employment information management system of the website of the Department of Foreign Employment. To do this, first go to the department's website WWW.DOFE.GOV.NP and click on the online labor permit. Or you can open it directly at FEIMS.DOFE.GOV.NP.
If the application is rejected for any reason while checking the work permit documents, the information including the reason will go to the mobile number of the applicant and the user account of the applicant will have to fill in his / her personal mobile number and email address. The username and password should be kept safe while applying as it is possible to know the status of the labor permit, view the details and make a complaint or grievance by using the username and password again.
As it takes time to check the documents online, the office has requested to fill the online form at least three days in advance and arrange the air ticket only after getting the work permit. The office has also asked to ensure that the labor permit expires by 90 days till the date of flight.
For re-employment approval, term life insurance and foreign employment welfare funds have to be paid through online payment providers. A re-employment permit requires a scanned copy of a passport size photo, a scanned copy of the passport, a scanned copy of the visa from the country concerned, a scanned copy of the old labor permit and a scanned copy of the old visa.
Similarly, a scanned copy of the passport with departure and arrival stamp affixed on the passport by the Immigration Office, provided by the employer for the worker if he is going to work differently from the previous work permit, scanned copy of the offer letter or agreement is also required, the office said.
In the case of domestic workers, a scanned copy of the letter of recommendation as per Schedule 8 of the Nepalese Embassy or Diplomatic Mission in the country concerned is required as per Article 18D of the Directive on Sending Domestic Workers for Foreign Employment.
The office has been giving institutional labor sanction, re-labor sanction and individual labor sanction. The service recipients do not have to come to the office for the approval of institutional labor, only the concerned manpower entrepreneurs come. According to the Foreign Employment Office, more than one lakh people have applied for re-employment, one lakh 80 thousand for institutional and more than eight thousand for individual till the end of the current fiscal year.
