A woman of Bharatpur metropolis-27 who was earlier grabbed and dragged away by a tiger as she had been in a forest to pick up vegetables was found dead. A partial lifeless body of Rekha Basnet, 23, was found as it was being devoured by the animal at 300 meters away (west) from the incident site.
According to the District Police Office, the big cat had already eaten the head and chest parts of her when the remains were spotted. A squad of Nepal Army had opened five rounds of fire in the air to chase away the wild animal from the scene.
The woman was subjugated to the attack from the big cat as she had been to a local Radhakrishna Community Forest to collect Niguro (wild edible fern), said Office information officer Deputy Superintendent of Police Narhari Adhikari.
So far 16 people have lost their lives to tiger attack in the park and national forest areas in the current fiscal year.
