The National Journalism Day Main Ceremony Committee has requested the Media Foundation to change the slogan of the National Journalism Day to be celebrated on April 7 next year to be inspiring for other sectors as well.
The request was made at a meeting of the committee held at the Ministry today under the chairmanship of Communications and Information Technology Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.
Minister Karki directed to conclude the Journalism Day in an exemplary manner and clarified that merit and contribution would be the basis for choosing the name for the award to be given on the occasion of this day. He also said that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology would play a leading role in promoting and enhancing the overall press world.
Secretary at the Ministry Vaikuntha Aryal said that the Journalism Day could be celebrated for three days including Diwali and urged the media establishment to come up with a proposal for the program from their respective organizations.
In the meeting, the heads and representatives of various media organizations in the government and private sector should make the official media establishment participate in this day as a national holiday, create an environment where they can feel a sense of belonging by joining hands with the private sector. It was suggested that arrangements should be made for the publication and dissemination of the work and the interaction of the press with the Ministry of Communications should be continued. The day has not been celebrated for the past two years due to the Covid epidemic.
