Solar has been installed in 100 houses of Malika Rural Municipality-2 Jem, which is located in a geographically difficult and remote area.
Under the 'Bright Province Program' of the Gandaki State Government, the Office of Drinking Water, Water Resources and Irrigation Division has installed a 50-watt solar system.
An agreement was signed with Enqua Fresh Nepal and Solar Pvt Ltd for the purchase and installation of solar energy in the financial year 2021/22 for Rs 1 million. Head of Office Surendra Paudel said that in accordance with the policy of the provincial government to provide light to the settlements that have not yet received the facilities of the central transmission line and small hydropower project, electricity facilities have been provided in Jem through solar energy.
Locals have said that after solar installation, it is easy to do household work, read to children, charge mobile phones, and play the radio at night. Earlier, they had to depend on Tuki for light.
50-watt capacity solar sets were distributed to 120 households of Dhavalagiri Rural Municipality.
