Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota proceeded with house business amid a protest held by CPN UML lawmakers.
The meeting of the HoR was put off for 15 minutes due to the protest. Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota announced the postponement of the meeting for 15 minutes after lawmakers of the CPN UML continued chanting slogans. The Speaker requested the opposition lawmakers to create an environment conducive to run the House business smoothly. He said that it was the responsibility of all to implement the HoR Regulations, urging them to put forth their views in the Parliament.
As the main opposition lawmakers continued with the protest, HoR member Prem Suwal was requested to speak from his seat.
Lawmaker Prem Suwal of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) while apprising the HoR members to scrap the budget for the fiscal year 2078/79 also asked the opposition lawmakers to create an environment conducive for the proposal. Suwal also expressed his view that the controversial Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) was against the aspiration of the Nepali people.
Amid the protest, Minister for Finance Janardhan Sharma presented the ordinance related to the budget in the HoR session today.
Moreover, the Speaker apprised the Lower House members of approval of the ordinance.
