Students' reading has been affected due to lack of textbooks in Rukumpur. The new academic session has started from the first week of June. Textbooks have not reached there yet. Most of the schools have been affected due to unavailability of textbooks.
There are 116 community schools in Rukumpur. Tilak Gautam, head of the Education Development and Coordination Unit, Rukumpur, informed that the textbooks for grade 1-3 has so far reached Rukumkot. He said that all the books from Rukumkot would be delivered to all the schools by next week. However, textbooks for grades 4 to 10 are inadequate.
The number of students in Rukumpur is around 20,000. However, the book has come in small quantities. Chief of the Education, Youth and Sports Development Branch of Sisne village Mangal Singh Budha said that the books were inadequate. The textbooks of class 4, 7 and 9 have changed but the new book have not reached any school in the village. The school is forced to teach from old books, said Budha.
Tek Bahadur Budha, technical assistant of the education department, said that lessons are being taught from old books in Bhume village municipality. He said that the textbooks of class 4, 7 and 9 could not be read due to the change in course. Ram Prasad Khadka, head of the village education department, said that some schools in Puthauttarganga village municipality are conducting classes from old books.
