JHAPA: Three people, including two young women, lost their lives in separate motorcycle accidents in Jhapa last night.
The District Police Office in Jhapa reported that the accidents took place at two different locations, with two others sustaining injuries.
In the first incident, a motorcycle (Province No. 1-01-015 Pa 1793) lost control and crashed near Setumari Chowk in Damak Municipality-10.
The driver, Biraj Thapa, 27, from Ratuwamai Municipality-8, Morang, and passengers Jamuna Dhimal, 32, and Om Kumari Rai, 25, both from Gauradaha Municipality-5, Jhapa, were injured.
Both women later died while receiving treatment at Damak Hospital. Thapa, the driver, suffered serious injuries and was referred to B&C Hospital in Birtamod for further care.
In a separate incident, Santosh Kumar Limbu, 42, from Mechinagar Municipality-5, Jhapa, died when his motorcycle collided with a parked tractor along the East-West Highway in Shivasatakshi Municipality.
Limbu's motorcycle crashed into the rear of the tractor (Ko 2 Ta 4145) at Kirat Chowk. His passenger, Anita Rai, 35, from Damak Municipality-5, was injured and is currently receiving treatment at B&C Hospital.
The tractor driver has been arrested in connection with the accident.
