The poem entitled 'Sankalpa (Resolution)' by Tika Aatreya of Sunsari has won the first prize in the National Poetry Festival organised on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Nepal Academy.
Similarly, the poem titled ' Aagoma Phuleko Desh (The Country Blooming in Fire)' by Yatri Prakash Pandey of Dhading has won the second prize.
The poem entitled ' Chariso Phool (Chariso Flower)' by Sita Tumkhewa of Bhaktapur, the poem 'Bubako Silai Machine (Dad's Sewing Machine)' by Kiran Siwa of Sunsari and the poem titled 'Sapana Umranchha Matoma (Dream Germinates in Soil)' by Kamal Raj KC of Achham have won the third prize.
The first prize carries a purse of Rs 50,000, the second prize Rs 40,000 and the third prize Rs 30,000.
Nepal Academy has started organizing the National Poetry Festival since 1965 AD. This is the 53rd edition of the festival. There were 588 entries for the poetry competition and of them 30 poems were selected.
