TU directs colleges to conduct classes virtually

The Tribhuvan University (TU) has instructed its constituent and affiliated campuses in big cities in districts highly affected by coronavirus to carry out teaching and learning activities virtually.

Chief of TU's Information and Public Relations Division, Yogendra Prasad Dahal said the country's oldest university has issued directives to conduct classes virtually concerning the surge in Covid-19 cases since the country has reported a massive 2,220 news cases of COVID on Wednesday.

The Council of Ministers had on Monday had decided that the educational institutions in the eight high-risk districts should conduct teaching and learning activities online or through alternative means until May 14.

According to Dahal, the colleges in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kaski, Jhapa, Sunsari, Morang, Saptari, Janakpur, Makawanpur, Rupandehi, Butwal, Chitwan, Banke, Parsa, Nepalgunj, Dang, Surkhet, Baglung and Mahendranagar have been instructed to conduct the theoretical classes online.

TU has urged colleges in the rest of the districts except in the above –mentioned big cities to run classes establishing coordination with the local governments and fully following the health safety protocols.

Similarly, TU has instructed bodies under it to conduct examinations by adopting health precautions, not to organise any meeting, assembly, seminar and conference with more than 25 participants and urged all its offices, campuses, schools and departments to manage face masks, sanitiser and soap and water.
