Two inmates from District Jail Banke will be allowed to cast their votes as temporary voters in the forthcoming House of Representatives and State Assembly elections to be held on November 20.

Aditya Shrestha, 29 years old of Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan city-7, and Mohammad Tayadali Jolaha, 48 years old of Ward No. 16, used their right to vote only for the proportional representation of the House of Representatives, informed Arjunjung Shah, the head of the district jail. He informed that, as requested by the Election Commission, the list of 726 prisoners was sent from the prison, and out of the 12 people who were sent the list, only two people appeared in the final list.

Shrestha had been in prison for seven months for corruption. He has a case of drug dealing. His case has not yet been decided by the court. Mohammed has been in prison for about a year. Jailer Shah said that he will spend 10 years in prison after he was sent to prison in a drug-related case.

Rama Pant, Head of the District Election Office, informed that since only two prisoners' names were found in the final list, they will be able to exercise their right to vote as temporary voters. He said that 1,631 people, including Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and civil servants, will vote for the proportional representation of the House of Representatives as temporary voters.
