UML candidate Tara Kumari Kazi Mahato has emerged victorious in the election. Mahato polled 9,901 votes. Tara Kumari was elected as the Deputy Chief in the local level election of 2017 AD with 4,690 votes.
Khem Prasad Mahato of Nepali Congress has been elected as the Deputy Chief. He defeated his nearest rival Madan Prasad Poudel of RPP by a margin of 1,690 votes. He received 6,830 votes while RPP's Poudel got 5,140 votes. Independent candidate Krishna Prasad Poudel polled 3,086 votes in the election. Mahato had earlier lost the local elections in Madi municipality by a narrow margin.
UML has won the chief along with a ward chairman and Congress has won only the deputy chief. In the wards, the Maoist Center has won four, the CPN-Samajwadi has won two and the RPP has won two. In Madi, 20,496 votes were cast.
