UML candidate Surya Bahadur Kunwar and Bhagwati Sharma have been elected as the chairperson and vice-chairperson of Biruwa village municipality of Syangja respectively. According to Returning Officer Bishwa Prasad Regmi, Kunwar got 4,872 votes while his rival Dolaraj Pokhrel of Nepali Congress got 4,746 votes.
Similarly, Bhagwati Sharma won with 4,937 votes while Tham Bahadur Gurung of the UCPN (Maoist) got 3,676 votes. In the village municipality of eight wards, UML has won three ward chairpersons including the chairperson and vice-chairperson, Congress has won four ward chairpersons and UCPN-M has won one ward chairperson. In the local election of 2017 AD, UML had won the majority of wards including the chairperson and vice-chairperson in Biruwa village municipality.
There were 16,599 voters in Biruwa village municipality out of which 10,460 votes were cast. According to Regmi, 4,982 men and 5,478 women cast their ballots in the constituency where 63.02 % of the total voters cast their ballots.
