The Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan is soon going to operate a waterpark in Dhambojhi to help develop the city as a tourism site.
Out of the total area of 65 bighas of the waterpark, a lake has been developed across eight bighas of land. Although the construction work of the park has been completed and handed over to the sub-metropolis, there has been some delay in other related works.
The construction work of the waterpark had been delayed due to the ongoing prohibitory order that was imposed to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pramod Rijal, Chairperson of Ward No. 1, informed that contracts had already been awarded to start boating and fishing services in the facility. He added that flower gardens are also being set up and the waterpark will also house commercial shops and other attractions.
In addition, a 21-metre-wide road that is under construction and connects Surkhet Road to Gulariya in Bardiya will also be connected to the park.
The construction of the waterpark project was planned 16 years ago. The project that was started in 2008 got delayed due to complications related to land acquisition in the initial phase.
The estimated budget for the construction of the waterpark was around Rs 840 million.
