Whereabouts of Ghimire still unknown for the past 18 years

The family of Gopal Ghimire of Mechinagar municipality has appealed to all to help them find him. Ghimire's whereabouts are still unknown for the past 18 years.

Gopal had gone to Malaysia on March 21, 2005 after acquiring a work permit for 'Production Operator' job from Raj Overseas Manpower Company. A week after arriving in Malaysia, Gopal had informed the family that he was accused of being an 'illegal worker'. Although Gopal used to contact his family back in Nepal frequently and used to tell them that he was in trouble, the Ghimire family is completely unknown about his real status for the past six years, said Gopal's mother, Sani Dhakal Ghimire.

Gopal was only 19 years at the time he had gone for overseas employment and he is now 37 years old.

"My son has been completely out of contact for the past six years. He had telephoned me saying he was accused of being illegal within one week after reaching Malaysia. Let's find out my son whatever condition he is in", she mentioned.

The Ghimire family suspects that Gopal might have been in Malaysian jail on the charge of 'illegal worker' due to the mistake of the manpower company.

Mother Sani complained that although they have knocked the door of different bodies and people's representatives with different agreement papers signed with the job-placement company and image of Gopal, no initiative has been taken to search Gopal and rescue him from anywhere so far.

She requested the government to search and rescue her son.. A total of 29 Nepali youths including Gopal had gone to Malaysia from Raj Overseas at the same time. ---
