Chief Minister of the Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey has secured the vote of confidence in the Gandaki province assembly.
In today's meeting of the provincial assembly, he secured 35 votes in favor of his proposal seeking a vote of confidence.
He received support from 27 province assembly members of the Nepali Congress, seven of the CPN (Maoist Centre), and one of the CPN (Unified Socialist).
Twenty-two province assembly members from the CPN-UML voted against the proposal while two members from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party stayed neutral.
Pandey who was appointed the chief minister of the province on April 27 took the oath of office and secrecy on April 28.
In a press meeting after securing the vote of confidence, CM Pandey said he would engage his efforts to give full shape to the council of ministers in consultation with coalition parties.
Preparation for the upcoming year's policy and program was underway, he shared. ---
