Nepali Congress has won the post of chairman of Shivpuri village municipality of Nuwakot and CPN (Maoist Center) has won the post of vice-chairman.
Govinda Prasad Thapaliya of the Nepali Congress has been elected as the chairman and Bir Bahadur Tamang of the UCPN (Maoist) has been elected as the vice-chairman. Thapaliya defeated his nearest rival Padma Bahadur Upreti of the CPN (Unified Socialist) with 109 votes. Thapaliya got 4,182 votes and Upreti got 4,073 votes.
Tamang got 4,520 votes and his nearest rival Indira Khadka of the Nepali Congress got 4,056 votes. An electoral alliance was formed between the Maoist Center and the Unified Socialists in that village.
Similarly, UCPN (Maoist) won in wards 1, 2, 3, and 7, Congress in wards 4 and 8, and UML in wards 5 and 6, said Assistant Election Officer Dayaram Poudel.
