Nepali Congress leaders have laid emphasis on the need of conducting the party's 14th general convention on the slated date.
Today's meeting of leaders affiliated with Ram Chandra Poudel's faction said that attention was drawn towards the delay in finalising the issue of active membership rather than the date set by the central working committee.
Leader Bal Bahadur KC said that discussion was held on various issues including finalising the issue of active membership and holding a general convention in the slated time as well as forging consensus on a common candidate to the post of party president from their group in the general convention.
Similarly, the leaders also discussed various tasks to be addressed in terms of the ideology and organisation of the party and the need for stronger leadership of the party in days to come.
Senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, General-Secretary Shashank Koirala, former General-Secretary Prakash Man Singh, leaders: Ram Sharan Mahat, Arjun Narsingh KC, Sujata Koirala, and Shekhar Koirala were present in the meeting.
