Eight parties, including the Maoist Center, which is leading the government, and the Nepali Congress, which is in the opposition, have formed a new alliance and have decided to support the Congress candidate for the presidency.
In the meeting of 8 parties held on Friday evening, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal proposed to support Congress, the largest party in the Parliament, for the presidential election. He argued that this is the beginning of a new political journey.
