A meeting of ten party-alliance discussed the election of the Vice President and efforts to reach an agreement.
Speaking to media after the meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence, Baluwatar, Deputy General Secretary of CPN (Maoist Center) Shakti Bahadur Basnet the discussion held for an agreement between the ten parties on the election of the Vice President has been positive and the meeting on Thursday will draw a conclusion on the matter.
There are three candidates standing for the post of Vice-president from among the ten parties. The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav and leader Pramila Kumari while the Janamat Party has registered the nomination of leader Mamata Jha. Likewise, Ashtalakshmi Shakya is the candidate on behalf of CPN (UML).
Senior leaders of the alliance members including Chairperson of Maoist Center and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba and Vice-president Purna Bahadur Khadka, Chairperson of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chair of JSP Upendra Yadav, Chair Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Mahantha Thakur, Chair of Nepal Samajwadi Party Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Nagarik Unmukti Party President Ranjita Shrestha, Janamat Party President CK Raut and Aam Janata Party President Prabhu Shah were present in the meeting.
