The leaders of two factions of CPN-UML have been making effort to solve the issues that have caused a rift within the party.
The party's senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also the party chair have been at loggerheads since the latter dissolved the House of Representatives. The differences continued further with the reinstatement of the CPN-UML party, as a result of the Supreme Court verdict.
Nepal has argued that the party chair Oli is not interested in party unification which has put the party, democracy, constitution, federalism and the rule of law at risk. Nepal has been arguing that the party's move to seek clarifications from 27 HoR members was meaningless as the party chair had no ground to seize their posts. He is of the view that the party chair's arrogance was escalated worryingly which needs correction.

The leaders from both factions have been holding discussions to bring together the party chair Oli and senior leader Nepal and save the party from dividing.
