The faction of CPN UML led by Madhav Kumar Nepal has decided to respond to the six-point proposal presented by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli who is also the party chair, for maintaining party unity.
The leaders close to the Nepal faction today held a discussion and decided to respond to each point of the proposal in written form, according to Beduram Bhusal, a leader close to the Nepal faction.
Oli on Sunday night presented the proposal to maintain the unity of the party. In the proposal, CPN UML Chair has agreed to change the party structure back to the state it was on May 16, 2018, the day before CPN UML merged with CPN Maoist Centre. The two communist parties merged on May 17, 2018
In the proposal, it has been stated that no action taken against any party leader or member for past mistakes and there will be no prejudice or discrimination against anybody within the party.
Moreover, the prime minister has also mentioned that the structure of the various committees and sister organisations of the party will be restored to what it was before May 17, 2018, and further work will be carried out accordingly.
