Co-chair of Janata Samajwadi Party, Mahanta Thakur, has said that he will neither vote for or against during the vote of confidence motion against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. While addressing the special session of the House of Representatives (HoR), he mentioned that he had decided to stay neutral as his demands had still not been fulfilled.
“We are neither for nor against the motion as we have been politically victimised,” Thakur said, adding, “Some of our party leaders are still in jail.” He mentioned that he wanted to see Resham Chaudhary in the parliament but he is in jail.
He also stated that many leaders from his party were in jail or out on bail due to the current constitutional provisions which have still not been amended despite numerous requests.
Thakur said that there were still many discrepancies in various provisions in the constitution. Since there is still discrimination based on race, region and gender the Janata Samajwadi Party has decided to stay neutral during the vote of confidence motion.
